Are you a Non-Traditional Student? At Central, if you fall into any of the following categories, you are considered a non-traditional student:
- 25 years of age or older
- Married or with a domestic partner
- Have children (married or single parent)
- Self-identify as a non-traditional student
Our goal at the Non-Traditional Student Resource Page is to provide a one-stop center that meets your needs. Here you will find links to informative web sites, places on campus and in the community to get assistance, and information about the Center for Student Empowerment's specially tailored programs for "non-trads".
A GROWING POPULATION
According to the U.S. Department of Education and the University
Continuing Education Association, the fastest growing population of college students are 25 and over and are working and/or supporting a family. This is true at Central Washington University as well. Non-traditional student numbers at Central are on the rise. Approximately 12% of students on CWU's main campus are non-traditional students. That is about 1200 students! And the number is much higher with CWU university centers.
NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENT ORGANIZATION (NTSO)
The Non-Traditional Student Organization (NTSO) is CWU's organization for non-traditional students. If you wish to get involved and connect with other non-traditional students, then this is the group for you! NTSO is always searching for motivated student leaders and fellow non-trads. Contact NTSO at nontrad@cwu.edu or visit their web site.
