The Chimpanzee and Human Communication Institute serves as an academic
resource for several programs, including:
CHCI Apprenticeship Program - a 10-week
summer program for students from various academic backgrounds
(e.g. anthropology, biology, psychology, linguistics, philosophy,
etc.). Apprentices are involved in the husbandry, care, and
enrichment of the chimpanzees on a daily bases. Apprentices
are also part of one or more research teams.
Primate Behavior and Ecology - The Primate
Behavior & Ecology Major at Central Washington University
is an interdisciplinary approach to non-human primates, captive and
free-living, and of their relationships with the environment. The
major requires the completion of a second major in a related field:
anthropology, psychology, or biology.
Master's Degree in Experimental Psychology -
Central Washington University offers a master's degree in experimental
psychology, with a concentration available in primate behavior.
